Very near the Hotel, you will find some major cultural and historical sites of the French capital:
- Champs Elysees Avenue (2-minute walk): magined and built by Le Nôtre, in the XVIIth century, when Louis XIV was King. This wonderful avenue was rapidly considered as the most beautiful Parisian avenue and is regularly called ”the most beautiful avenue of the world”. It is about 2 km, from Concorde Place to Charles de Gaulle Place, where you can admire the wonderful Arc de Triomphe. Numerous luxury boutiques have chosen to settle here also: Cartier, Vuitton. It is also the meeting point for numerous important events in Paris: Tour de France, 4th of July (national day) or 31st of December.
- EiffelTower (15 minute-walk): In 1889, when the Tour Eiffel was completed, it was the tallest building in the world at 300m. The Tour was originally built for the 1889 Exposition. This steel construction defied all traditional rules in architecture and as surprising as it can be, it was at first much criticized. However, the Eiffel Tower has become and is still the symbol of Paris. On a nice day, you can see from the top of the platform, the whole of Paris and even the distant suburbs. In 1986, the external night-time floodlighting was replaced by a system of illumination from within the tower's superstructure, so that it now looks its magical best after dark.
